About Me

I'm an advocate for small business as the backbone of our country, and a successful Duct Tape Marketing small business coach.

I founded Chrysalis Creative Marketing in 2003 after twenty years of corporate marketing in Toronto, New York, and London, England. In 2006, I became a Duct Tape Marketing Authorized Coach. Now I split my time between teaching (Schulich Executive Education Centre, York University and the Institute for Communications & Advertising) and coaching under the Duct Tape umbrella.

My corporate clients have included technology leaders, consumer products and retailers, and they weren't nearly as much fun as entrepreneurs, so that's where my focus lies.

I believe small businesses can attract all the clients they can handle, work only with clients who value what they have to offer, and significantly increase what they charge if they follow simple small business marketing systems, strategies and ideas.

I teach Advanced Strategic Planning and Competitive Dynamics, Advanced Account Management and High-Yield Selling, and Improving Presentation Effectiveness; and I present small business seminars on lead generation and referral marketing.

I tried teaching undergraduate marketing and advertising and won't be doing that again any time soon.

I have undergraduate degrees in English and Finance, and I graduated from the Banff Advanced Marketing Management School. W Network once did a documentary about me and a client named me an Agent of Change in Strategy Magazine. I also write for Microsoft Small Business + in Canada.

I love my job and that's why I work so hard at it.
